How to Use Alexa Announce Sounds

Whether you’re celebrating a special occasion or just want your Alexa to let you know when dinner is ready, the Alexa app can help you find the right sound to send to your friends and family. Broadcasting “Alexa, broadcast dinner” or “Alexa, broadcast wake up” will give you a rooster sound, and a looney Tunes style character speeding off, respectively. You can also ask Alexa to announce “Happy Birthday” or “Alexa, broadcast dinner” to hear a cheering crowd.

To enable Alexa Announcements, you need to sign in to the Alexa app and select “Communicate.” Then, tap the “Announce” button. When you’re done, you can type a voice message or announce a message. Alexa will read it or play it directly if you have spoken it. You can use this option to broadcast your announcement to all devices that support it, including those that are part of your Amazon Household. Make sure your devices aren’t set to “Do Not Disturb” mode before trying to use this feature.

You can also use Alexa Announcements to broadcast music, X-rated words, or anything else you want. You can even broadcast yourself tattling! The sounds will only be played on Alexa devices that have a microphone and speaker. While this may not be ideal for every situation, they are a great option for a fun evening out. A high-pitched screech and a musical snippet may be just what you need to keep the peace.
